| Biography |
| Professor Cain taught graduate courses in International and Development Communication, Intercultural Training, Politics of International Marketing, and International Organizations for the University of Denver and Troy State University from 1996 – 2001. Since fall of 2007 she has taught Intercultural Communication at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Her academic credentials include a PhD, MA, in International Studies from the Graduate School of International Studies, University of Denver and a MA in International Communications from the American University, Washington, D.C. Her BA is in Political Science and Western Literature from Mills College, Oakland, CA.
Her research fields are in economic development and development assistance programs with a regional expertise in Latin America. Her most recent publication is “Worldview: The Wisdom of Cultural Sensitivity”, The Professional Skier, PSIA: Lakewood, CO, Fall, 2007. She has written on international environmental issues, appropriate technology and has edited a book on "Women and Technological Change in Developing Countries." She is proficient in Spanish and French and has travelled, done research or worked in more than 40 countries.
Her current research interest is in the implications of personality (MBTI) for effective intercultural communication as assessed by the CCAI.
Melinda has managed a consulting company since 2005 and regularly provides intercultural communication and competence training to organizations in business, health care, education and community services. She currently heads a community outreach project with Intercambio de Communidades in Boulder.
